WAYNE RADFORD PASSES AWAY

(INDIANA RELEASE)

Wayne Radford, a member of the undefeated 1976 National Champion men's basketball team at Indiana, has passed away. He was 64.


Radford, an Indianapolis native, played for the Hoosiers from 1975-78 and appeared in 109 games and averaged 8.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists. As a senior, he averaged 15.6 points and led the team in field goal percentage hitting 57.9% of his shots. He ranks sixth all-time at IU in field goal percentage making 55.3% of his field goal attempts. He earned Academic All-American and Academic All-Big Ten honors during his career with the Hoosiers. He was named team MVP in 1978.


He graduated from Arlington High School in 1974 and helped his team to the school's first City Tournament championship in 1971-72 and first sectional and regional in 1973-74. He scored 1,307 career points as a prep and was a 1974 Indiana All-Star.


He was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 and was a member of the 1999 Silver Anniversary team.


He was the 27th pick of the 1978 NBA Draft and was selected by the Indiana Pacers and played in 52 games as a rookie averaging 3.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists.


He was a Varsity Club National Board Member and a member of the IUAA.
