(PURDUE RELEASE)
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Highlighted by 22 Academic All-Big Ten honors, the Purdue soccer team had exceptional success in the classroom in the 2020 fall semester.
The team recorded a fall semester team grade-point average of 3.55, as 30 student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.00 or higher and eight had a perfect 4.0 in the semester. Twenty-two Boilermakers were named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team in the fall.
“We have such an impressive group of young women on this team,” Purdue coach Drew Roff said. “To overcome some of the unique circumstances they faced, and achieve at such a high level academically, is a special accomplishment. Their performance speaks volumes about their commitment to excellence, as well as their resilience. I am very proud of them all.
“I also would like to thank our academic advisor, Tanya Foster, for all that she does. Tanya goes above and beyond to help our players reach their goals, and we are grateful that she is part of our program.”
Along with the eight 4.0 GPAs in the fall semester, six student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0-3.49 and 16 had a GPA of 3.50-3.99.
Among the 22 Boilermakers who earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, sophomore Ashley Witucki was one of just three fall sport student-athletes from Purdue to be recognized with a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Seniors Abby Crabtree, Maya Lambert, Lexi Marks and Hannah Melchiorre all were named to the Academic All-Big Ten team for the third time in their careers.
The team’s 22 Academic All-Big Ten accolades are part of a Purdue-record 96 student-athletes recognized across all fall sports. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten, student-athletes must be enrolled full-time at their university for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Entering the spring semester, the team’s cumulative team GPA is 3.46.
Additionally, Lambert graduated in December with a bachelors degree in accounting. She will begin her masters in accounting from Purdue’s Krannert School of Management this spring while continuing her career on the pitch with the Boilermakers.
