INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy golf head coach Brent Nicoson announced the signing of Jarrod Millar to the men's golf team for the fall of 2021. Millar comes to Indianapolis from his home in Auckland, New Zealand and will become the first Greyhound ever to hail from that country. He will join Ty Stansfield to round out the class joining the Hounds this fall.
Millar was born in South Africa and moved to New Zealand at the age of five. He currently attends Macleans College where he is a top student in Design and Model Portfolio and currently ranks in the top-10 percent in the world in design. He is the son of Sean and Wanda, and he has one sibling, Kayla.
On the course, Millar's golf team was the National Secondary Schools champion in both 2018 and 2019 and the regional champion from 2017-19. Some individual highlights of his junior career include winning the Southern Cross Junior (71-73) and the Intercollegiate Stroke Play Championship with 68 this past June.
He was also the second low amateur in the Cardinal Logistics Pro-Am (73-71) while also finishing third in the Auckland U19 Championship (73-74) and fifth at the North Island U19 Championship (72-73). Most recently he competed in the prestigious Danny Lee Stroke Play Championship, where he finished in the top 15 with scores of 74-72-69.
"Jarrod is a very solid player and we are extremely excited to have him," said Nicoson. "His work ethic is what sticks out the most as he has a drive to get better each and every day. He has been a successful young man in both the class room and on the golf course which will fit in perfectly with the culture of our program."
