(INDIANA RELEASE)
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Redshirt freshman Asa Garcia competed for IU for the first time in an Indiana singlet and brought home a victory. Garcia and Nick Willham won their individual bouts, but the Hoosiers were defeated 32-6 against No. 3 Michigan on Sunday.
Notes
• With the loss Indiana drops to 0-2 on the season. Michigan improves to 3-0.
• Nick Willham put the Hoosiers on the board with a 4-2 decision. The match was tied 2-2 in the third after a Willham escape.
• Asa Garcia won his first match in an IU uniform. Garcia got out to a quick start and was up 8-2 after the first period.
• Jacob Moran won an exhibition match for the second straight week with a 4-1 decision. Moran got a third period takeover and ride out for the win.
• The win for Moran comes against cadet world champion Kurt McHenry.
• Freshman Jonathan Kervin won his first match in an exhibition match with a 5-2 decision.
