INDIANA TRACK AND FIELD: 14 Hoosiers Secure Wins at Gladstein Invitational on Saturday Afternoon

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – It was a strong weekend for Indiana Track & Field as they made their first of three appearances inside Gladstein Fieldhouse. 14 Hoosiers and one relay squad won their respective events at the Gladstein Invitational.

To kick off the women's portion of the meet, De'Aira Robertson captured a personal record time of 8.53 to win the 60m hurdles. After earning a new personal record in the 800m last weekend, Bailey Hertenstein stepped up to the occasion to earn another PR in the mile. Her time of 4:42.75 also ranks No. 9 in the nation so far this NCAA indoor season. Natalie Price is beginning to hit her stride as the senior secured the top spot in the 400m with a time of 55.78. Rounding out victories for the women on the oval, Alyssa Robinson clocked a time of 24.22 in the 200m for her first event win of the season. Robinson also competed in the 60m and nabbed a time of 7.79 to take the silver medal.

In the field, Anna Watson won her second straight pole vault competition. She cleared a height of 4.07m (13' 4.25") to get the win. Princess Brinkley secured her first victory in the weight throw this season. She heaved it a distance of 19.40m (63' 7.75"). Mahogany Jenkins won her first triple jump event in an Indiana uniform as she soared to a distance of 12.03m (39' 5.75"). Jenkins also competed in the high jump where she finished in fourth and cleared a height of 1.65m (5' 5").

Turning to the men's side, Rikkoi Brathwaite picked up right where he left off and won his second 60m of the season with a time of 6.67. Matthew Schadler used his young speed to propel him to a victory in the mile with a time 4:02.40. His time is also good for No. 6 nationally. Cooper Williams earned the top spot on the podium with a time of 1:48.09 in the 800m. Ben Veatch picked up a win tin he 3000m and notched a time of 8:02.27. This time ranks No. 9 in the NCAA. Micah Camble continued to show his strength as he won the 600m in a time of 1:21.21. Ending the meet for the Hoosiers, Camble, Williams, Zubin Muncherji, and Aaron Bennett combined for a time 3:16.63 in the 4x400m relay. The time was enough for the victory.

Meanwhile in the field events, Jyles Etienne returned to the win column in the high jump after he cleared a height of 2.06m (6' 9"). Newcomer JaiQuan Earls won his first two events as a Hoosier with a jump of 6.98m (22' 11") in the long jump and 13.85m (45' 5.25") in the triple jump. He also secured third in the 60m.

Morgan Snow ran her second career 60m where she placed fifth in a time of 7.79. She also ran the 200m where she crossed fourth with a time of 25.28. Maria Anderson and Shynae Deas nabbed third and fourth in the 600m, respectively. Anderson secured a time of 1:33.58 while Deas picked up a time of 1:33.69. Kelly Mindak crossed the finish line in a time of 2:12.34 to place fourth in the 800m. Jenna Barker and Sarah Schmitt finished the mile back-to-back as Barker placed fourth in a time of 4:45.53 while Schmitt secured fifth in a personal record time of 4:45.71. Ana Barrott (4:57.99) finished in eighth while Mikaela Ramirez nabbed 11th (5:03.54). Abi Little (5"04.16) and Mariah Wehrle (5:08.61) rounded out the field in the mile as they placed 13th and 14th, respectively.

Maddie Dalton clocked a personal best in the 3000m after crossing the finish line in a time of 9:52.14 to place fourth.

Rounding out the women's day on the track, Little, Wehrle, Mindak, and Anderson combined for a time of 9:34.58 and placed second.

Hope Purcell appeared in the high jump and the 60m hurdles on Saturday. She placed third in the high jump with a height of 1.70m (5' 7") and finished in fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.85. Shaunyae Sowell picked up silver in the long jump with a distance of 5.16m (16' 11.25"). Nichole Flowers took third and Shanna Esters nabbed fourth. Ester also picked up silver in the triple jump with a mark of 11.20m (36' 9"). Kara Deady saw a height of 3.77m (12' 4.5") which was good enough for fifth place.

On the men's side, Christian Goines sprinted to a time of 8.17 in the 60m hurdles to pick up second place. His prelim time of 8.15 was a personal record. Teddy Browning ran a time of 4:11.83 to place fourth in the mile. Muncherji also placed fourth in the 400m and had a time of 49.46.

In an all Hoosier 800m, Bennett placed second and Nick Couyoumjian placed third. Bennett received a time of 1:53.54 and Couyoumjian clocked a time of 1:53.72.

Jake Gebhardt, Ben Miller, and Skylar Stidam all secured personal records in the 3000m on Saturday afternoon. Arjun Jha clocked a time of 8:12.73 to place fifth and Gebahrdt finished in sixth with a time of 8:15.83. Miller (8:15.83), Stidam (8:18.70), and Austin Haskett (8:22.59) rounded out five student-athletes who finished fifth through ninth. Ethan Meyer (8:39.77) picked up 14th while Colin Murphy (8:49.03) finished in 16th.

Grayson Rolen highlighted the field events for the Hoosiers as he locked down another personal record. He cleared a height of 2.03m (6' 8") in the high jump to place third. Nolan Landis had his best finish after securing third in the shot put with a mark of 16.10m (52' 10"). Nathan Stone led Indiana in the pole vault after clearing a height of 5.00m (16' 4.75") to place second. Newcomers Sam Wood and Tyler Sierks finishes in third and fourth.

Up next the Hoosiers will have a split weekend as the Big Ten cross country season begins. A group will travel to Shelbyville, Ind. for the Big Ten Cross Country Championship son Jan. 30 while the multi athletes will head to Champagne, Ill. for a multi event. The women's Big Ten race is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET while the men will kick off at 2 p.m. ET.
