(INDIANA STATE RELEASE)

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Sycamore volleyball returns to action for the first time since the 2019 fall season when they host in-state rival Evansville on Monday, Jan. 25.

Individuals on the pass list will not be able to enter the facility until 30 minutes prior to first serve.

CONTINUING TO EXCEL

Melina Tedrow enters the 2021 spring season as one of the top liberoes in the Valley after a standout 2019 campaign. Tedrow recorded a school record 44 digs against Evansville in October and she also finished her season with 540 digs, the fifth-most by a Sycamore in a single season while also averaging 5.35 digs-per-set, the second-best effort by an ISU athlete in school history.

DEFENSIVE MINDED

Last season the Trees were one of the better defensive teams in the Missouri Valley Conference and country, averaging 17.92 digs-per-set, the eighth-best overall mark in the NCAA and was third in the Valley. ISU returns libero Melina Tedrow who was second in the Valley in digs per set at 5.35. Her 5.35 digs per set were second in school history and her 540 total digs last season put her fourth in ISU history.

CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOK

After a stellar sophomore campaign, libero Melina Tedrow sits just 205 digs away from entering the Sycamore Top-10 in career digs. Tedrow is chasing Kylee Osborne who tallied 1005 career digs from 2000-2003. Her current career mark of 3.77 digs per would put her fourth in Sycamore history.

SEASON-OPENERS

In their last 10 season-openers, Sycamore volleyball has fared well, tallying a 7-3 record. During the 2019 campaign, the Trees fell to Northeastern, 3-1, and their most recent season-opening victory came in 2018 with a 3-1 victory over Liberty in 2018. From 2010-15, Indiana State claimed five-consecutive season-opening victories.
