INDIANA STATE VB: Volleyball Looks for Revenge at Evansville on Friday Evening

(INDIANA STATE)

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – After falling to Evansville at home on Monday afternoon, Sycamore women's volleyball will look for revenge as they hit the road for a Friday evening match with the Purple Aces.

STREAK EXTENDED

With 15 digs on Monday evening against Evansville, Melina Tedrow increased her streak of recording 10+ digs to 14 games. The junior led the Sycamore defensive effort in the season-opener against Evansville and is now just 195 digs away from entering the Sycamore top-10 for most career digs. She's chasing Kylee Osborne who tallied 1005 career digs from 2000-2003.

GETTING DEFENSIVE

After matching up with Evansville in the first match of the season on Jan. 25, both the Sycamores and the Purple Aces find themselves atop the Valley on the defensive side of the net. Evansville leads the Valley with 23 digs per set, while ISU is right behind them with 22.67 digs per set. Melina Tedrow is tied for second in the MVC with 5.00 digs per set through her first match.

LAST MEETING

Indiana State and Evansville met on Monday afternoon in the season-opener for both squads. Despite keeping each set close, the Purple Aces swept the Sycamores for a 3-0 victory. Madeline Williams led the offense for Indiana State with 13 kills while freshman Kaitlyn Hamilton added 8. Mary Hannah Lewis earned herself a double-double with 17 assists and 13 digs as well.

CONTINUING TO EXCEL

Melina Tedrow enters the 2020 season as one of the top liberoes in the Valley after a standout 2019 campaign. Tedrow recorded a school record 44 digs against Evansville in October and she also finished her season with 540 digs, the fifth-most by a Sycamore in a single season while also averaging 5.35 digs-per-set, the second-best effort by an ISU athlete in school history.
