INDIANA MEN’S SOCCER: Glass Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

(IU RELEASE)

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's soccer redshirt senior defender Spencer Glass was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, the United Soccer Coaches and Missouri Athletic Club announced on Thursday afternoon.

The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year.

Glass is one of 35 players on the Watch List and is one of four from the Big Ten Conference, joining Giuseppe Barone (Michigan State), Liam Butts (Penn State), and Jackson Ragen (Michigan).

The Fort Wayne, Ind., native has started in 27 of his 64 career games played along the defensive backline for Indiana. He returns for his final season as the squad's active leader in goals scored (nine), assists (16), and points (34). The 2019 All-Big Ten second team performer has four game-winning tallies in his career.

Indiana opens the 2020-21 season on Feb. 19 as hosts to the Wisconsin Badgers.

The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men's and Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committees. Fifteen semifinalists will be named for both the men's and women's MAC Hermann Trophy near the end of the college season based on voting by NCAA Division I coaches and from those candidates, three finalists will ultimately be placed on the ballot for the coveted award.

The Hoosiers have had seven players named the top player in NCAA Division I soccer. Former IU great and current Atlanta United FC defender Andrew Gutman last won the award following a standout 2018 campaign.
